About Me

Emilien
Massoda

I’m Jean Emilien Massoda, a software engineer and product builder with 7+ years of experience. I build software for the work behind a business: handling enquiries, coordinating teams, reviewing information, connecting tools, and making operational problems easier to see and resolve. My work spans Go, Python and Node.js services; React and TypeScript interfaces; WordPress and WooCommerce plugins; API integrations; and mobile, USSD and offline workflows.

I’ve worked across fintech, commerce and service operations, taking ideas from early prototype to working product and improving systems already in use. I can own a focused build from the workflow discussion through implementation and testing, or work within a product team on a larger system. Explore the case studies to see what each project does, how I built it and what can be tested.

Available for remote full-time and contract engineering roles, early-stage product teams and focused builds. Based in UTC+1; I can align my schedule with UK, European, North American or Australian teams.

I also work with React and Node.js, WordPress and WooCommerce, PostgreSQL and SQLite, REST APIs and cloud deployment. See the work behind the stack ↗

What I Do

Product and systems engineering for teams that need dependable workflows, integrations and software that can grow with them.

001

UI / UX Design

↗

User-centred design grounded in research and systems thinking. From information architecture and wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes and design tokens, I create interfaces that are both visually precise and measurably usable.

002

Product Prototyping & Systems Engineering

↗

I turn a difficult operational question into a testable workflow, build the smallest useful system, and use feedback to decide what should become a production product.

003

Software Engineering

↗

Production-grade Software development using React, Next.js, and modern web standards. I prioritise Core Web Vitals, semantic HTML, WCAG accessibility compliance, and component architectures built for long-term maintainability.

004

Mobile Application Development

↗

Cross-platform mobile engineering for iOS and Android using React Native and Flutter. I architect offline-first data flows, native device API integrations, and performance-optimised UI layers, from prototype to App Store submission.

005

Web Application Development

↗

Full-cycle Software engineering of scalable SaaS and enterprise web applications. I design component systems, integrate RESTful and GraphQL APIs, implement role-based access control, and configure CI/CD pipelines for reliable, zero-downtime deployments.

006

Machine Learning Engineering

↗

End-to-end ML system design, from feature engineering and model selection to hyperparameter optimisation, inference API deployment, and MLOps pipeline configuration. I build models that are accurate, interpretable, and production-ready.

007

Data Analytics & Intelligence

↗

Transforming raw datasets into decision-ready intelligence through rigorous exploratory analysis, ETL pipeline automation, KPI framework design, and interactive dashboards. I turn complexity into clarity at every level of the organisation.

Product and platform capability

Systems I Can Build

I work across product interfaces, application logic, integrations, reliability and operational tooling. These are the kinds of systems I can help a team design, build, improve or recover.

03

API and Automation Workflows

Reliable integrations that validate requests, protect credentials, coordinate third-party services, retry temporary failures and expose operational problems.

04

Offline-First Business Applications

Applications that remain useful during unreliable connectivity by storing work locally, maintaining queues and resolving conflicts explicitly.

05

AI Agent Controls and Audit Systems

Control layers for tool-using AI systems, including permission boundaries, approvals, action evidence, containment and recovery.

06

Developer Platforms and Internal Tools

Internal systems that connect deployments, service ownership, CI health, incidents, release readiness and operational evidence.

Engineering judgment

Technical Decision Library

Good software is shaped by the decisions behind it. These short explanations connect common engineering problems to practical examples from my projects and writing.

Why do payment retries need idempotency?

A timeout does not always mean a payment request failed. Idempotency allows safe retries without turning one customer action into multiple financial operations.

Explore ReconLab →

Why should offline applications use a durable outbox?

A visible interface does not prove data reached the server. A durable outbox preserves the local action and the intention to synchronize it later.

Explore KioskFlow →

Why should AI approvals expire?

A human approval should authorize one reviewed action, not give an agent permanent access. Narrow, short-lived grants reduce the effect of mistakes or compromised sessions.

Explore Sentinel →

Why is one API request not enough for fulfilment?

Providers can time out, return ambiguous responses or process a request late. Reliable fulfilment needs persistence, idempotency, bounded retries, logs and operator recovery.

Explore RelayKit →

What do delivery metrics actually tell a team?

Deployment frequency and recovery time reveal system flow. They become harmful when treated as individual scores instead of evidence for improving delivery.

Why verify AI-generated code against the real system?

AI suggestions can sound convincing while naming hooks or configuration keys that do not exist. Source code, documentation, tests and runtime behavior remain the final evidence.

FAQ

I build focused software for business operations: client intake, internal tools, document review, WooCommerce operations, API integrations and mobile or offline workflows. I can develop a prototype to test a process or improve an existing product. Explore working examples and their current limits.

Yes. I work with founders testing an idea, growing teams trying to remove a workflow bottleneck, and established product teams that need engineering support. I am also available for remote engineering roles and contracts.

Yes. IntakeDesk is an installable WordPress client-intake plugin and VendorPulse is an installable WooCommerce operations plugin. Their case studies link to demos, source code and downloadable packages. A production installation should be reviewed for its specific site and data needs.

Yes. My repository-backed work includes Go event delivery, a Python document-review service, a Node.js integration gateway, React and TypeScript interfaces, and WordPress and WooCommerce plugins. I can own a focused build or collaborate with an engineering team.

The choice depends on the workflow. Projects in my portfolio use Go, Python, PHP, WordPress, WooCommerce, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, SQLite, REST APIs and webhooks. I also work across mobile, USSD and offline-first product experiences.

Yes. A guided pilot tests one suitable workflow with fictional or safe example information. There is no fee or obligation to adopt the product. The experiment helps us learn what is useful and what would need to change; any real-data or production deployment would require a separate scope.

I first learn who uses the workflow, what is slowing them down, what systems are involved and what evidence would show improvement. Then I propose a practical scope, timeline and price for the agreed work. A free Lab pilot is different from a production build.

Email me about the workflow, the people who use it and where it breaks down, or explore ways to work together. If you are hiring, share the role and the engineering challenges. You can also browse the project case studies before getting in touch.
